The Process
Over the past decade I have developed process that cover a range of animation styles. Following a process is key to creating an animation that works and ensures you, your team and stakeholders get to feedback and implement changes at each step.
The Brief
The process begins with the brief. Discussing the objectives of the animation, and the story you want to tell. Leaning about your audience and the subject specific detail is key to ensuring the animation resonates with the viewer.
The Script
We can either use a script you provide or we can create one. Maybe you have a lengthy document that you want to summarise into a script. Whatever option we can guide you in creating a script that is engaging, focussed and animation ready.
Voice Over
Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Style Frames
Taking on board all the information from the brief we create the style frames. These will be a few still images created as if they were capture moments from the final animation. This will give the opportunity for review and feedback on the look and feel of the animation.
Hand-drawn Storyboard
After the style frames have been approved we will create a rough storyboard for the whole animation .This will be supplied in a pdf and will align voice over with the visuals and a description of the action taking place in each shot.
Production Storyboard
Once the hand drawn storyboard is approved a production ready storyboard will be created. The frames will be to the same look and feel as the style frames and will contain all the assets needed to create the animation.
Music
Music plays a key role in driving an animation. It helps create the tone of the animation and can help make key moments stand out. The music can either be composed as a bespoke track or stock music options can be provided and then edited to fit the animation.
Animatic
Before creating the animation we will take the frames from the storyboard and cut these together in sequence along with the voice over and music track. This allows us to get a sense of the timing and getting key moments to align with music and vo.
Animation
This is where we get things moving, adding character, transforming shapes and creating captivating moments that engage the viewer.
Sound Design
The final part of the process is sound design.
